Around the world, children and students, educators, entrepreneurs, doctors, businesses, and governments are increasingly relying on digital means to deliver much-needed education, healthcare, and employment opportunities. Yet in every country, and within every community, stark digital divides create real barriers to full participation in society and access to critical services – preventing people from fully realizing their potential and accelerating inequalities. According to the UN, almost half the world’s population, 3.7 billion people, the majority of them women, and most in developing countries, are still offline. And many lack digital access and skills.
On 17-19 October, the 2023 Accelerating Digital Equity Global Summit will convene global leaders across philanthropy, technology, government, international development, and social impact to collaborate on ways to close the digital divide in the interest of social and economic justice globally.
17 October 2023
Digital Equity Pitch Fest and Social Innovation Showcase
Digital Equity Pitch Fest and Social Innovation Showcase is a global event featuring pitches from 10 non-profit organizations advancing innovative digital equity solutions that are participants of the Digital Equity Accelerator. It takes place on 17 October and is open to the general public. Register here.
18-19 October 2023
Latin America, Africa, and Asia Regional Summits
Three Regional Summits elevate conversations around digital equity in each region. The Regional Summits feature local leaders at the forefront of social innovation, digital inclusion, and social impact in each region. These events require advanced registration and will be held 18 and 19 October.
The Digital Equity Accelerator, a collaboration between HP and the Aspen Institute, fuels social innovation by investing in local NGOs working to address social and economic injustices that are exacerbated by unequal technology access and use around the world.
